Auto Radiator Repair
An integral part of an automobile's cooling system is the engine radiator. With the engine running, coolant is pumped through the engine block and cylinder heads by the water pump. As the coolant flows through these components it picks up excessive heat created by friction and combustion. Coolant flow that can reach temperatures above 200 degrees travels through tubes in the vehicles radiator. Cool air flow from driving at speeds above 25 miles per hour or a cooling fan is forced through the radiator and across these cooling tubes, as the cool air flows over these tubes the temperature of the coolant is dropped and the cycle starts again.
Remember the number one cause of vehicle breakdowns are neglected cooling systems. Debris such as trash, grass and leaves restrict air flow causing higher engine temperatures. Neglected corrosive coolant can erode the radiator and clog the flow of coolant through the tubes. A defective radiator pressure cap can reduce system pressure causing higher operating temperatures.
At STS, our technicians are trained to inspect for conditions that can lead to radiator failure, so stop in or schedule an appointment to have a comprehensive cooling system inspection performed.
